Since I had some over ripe bananas and some left over canned pumpkin, I gave this recipe for Banana Bread a try. It's so nice to have help with the Sunday meal by everyone in the family.  Today I had help with the Pork Roast and gravy by my hubby.  When I was eating it I suddenly realized it tasted so familar. It's huckleberry picking time here. We went "Huckleberrying" in the woods with some friends.   We had bear spray with us, but didn't see any bears thankfully.  It's probably because we made enough noise to keep them away. The 91st annual American Dog Derby race was held this weekend. We got to see just the Snowshoe races, but it is an activity well worth seeing. In the real musher team race, the big news was that one team was trampled by a moose, but are all okay. Two other teams stopped to scare off the moose. Each year our dear friends, whom we no longer live near, still UPS us a plate of their Christmas cookies. I just counted 15 varieties on the plate!!! The kids are out of school for "Spud Harvest"! That's the name given to the time to harvest and the vacation from school to help with the harvest. The "Activity Days" girls are out today "gleaning" the Bishop's spud fields. Last time they made bags they'll put the potatoes in to give to local needy families. It's time for "our state fair, is the best state fair, don't miss it, don't even be late!" One of the favorite treats there is Tiger Ears, scones made large and thin and served with honey butter, sponsored by the local Boy Scouts. We planned to go on Saturday, but changed to going the following Saturday. We could hardly wait for the Tiger Ears, so we decided to make these "scones" ourselves.
